Mechanical Ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR)

MVHR systems significantly improve the energy efficiency of a home and ultimately reduce carbon consumption and footprint. An MVHR system has two separate ducts, one for extracting moist/stale air and one for supplying fresh air from outside. The two ducts are connected to a heat exchanger, which transfers the heat from the outgoing air to the incoming air. The fresh air is then filtered and distributed throughout the building.

Moist, stale air is extracted from “wet” rooms like kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms. Instead of wasting that air, a high-efficiency heat exchanger extracts the heat, while simultaneously discarding the stale/wetness through ventilation. The warm fresh air is then transferred to heat habitable rooms such as bedrooms, lounge areas etc.
